The 2013 Deconstructing Dinner Film Festival is weeks away.

Conceived by the producer and host of the internationally syndicated radio show/podcast of the same name (2006-2010), Jon Steinman has selected a line-up of films that will inspire, inform and entertain from April 4-6.

The highlight of this year’s festival is the theatrical premiere of one of six episodes which make up the forthcoming Deconstructing Dinner: Reconstructing Our Food System television series and web-based media project.

This will be an exclusive sneak-peak for Nelson-area residents and features a great line-up of Kootenay residents.

This year’s festival is spread out over three days and three venues with an event launch at The Royal on Baker featuring the return of Brent “The Oyster Man” and his fabulous oyster bar.

Adding to the evening will be a perogy bar — celebrating the art and history of the tasty perogy.

Two days of films will follow at two historic theatres — the beautiful Capitol Theatre and the revived Civic Theatre.

Carrying the same intention as the Deconstructing Dinner radio show, this film festival is designed to be an inspiration to Nelson-area residents to continue building a thriving, resilient and flavourful local food system.

Tickets are available at Otter Books on Baker Street in Nelson.
