The Nelson Leafs lost to host team 8-4 at the Castlegar Minor Hockey Atom Tournament Sunday in the Sunflower City.
The Leafs finished 2-1 in round robin, defeating both Kelowna 7-2 and Cranbrook 9-3.
The result advanced Nelson as the fourth-place squad against first-place Trail Spartans.

Canada has a tradition of separating church and state, so I’m surprised sometimes how often issues related to religion come before me on Parliament Hill.

I believe it’s important to apply the same principles to all of these issues: respect each other’s beliefs; promote fairness and equality; and oppose intolerance and fearmongering.

On Feb. 27, the Selkirk College Board of Governors will vote on whether to once again increase tuition fee rates for the coming academic year. Students are reasonably agitated – the College has increased fees every year for over a decade. From 2008/09 to 2017/18, arts program tuition fees, on which average tuition fees are estimated, increased 19 percent at Selkirk College.

A new smartphone app is set to turn B.C. bystanders into potential life-savers when a sudden cardiac arrest occurs in a public place.

BC Emergency Health Services (BCEHS) launched the free PulsePoint application today throughout the province. It provides vital information in the case of cardiac arrest, where minutes count in reducing suffering and preventing death.
