RDCK EOC rescinds Evacuation Alert for Silverton, surrounding area of Area H

On the recommendation of the BC Wildfire Service (BCWS), the Regional District of Central Kootenay (RDCK) Emergency Operations Centre (EOC) said the  Evacuation Alert for 185 properties in the Village of Silverton, 17 properties in the surrounding area of Electoral Area H, as well as 18 Parcel Identifiers (PIDs) has been rescinded.

The announcement was made in a media release by the RDCK EOC Friday afternoon.

The Village of Silverton and surrounding area were originally on Evacuation Order from July 24 until July 30 due to the Slocan Lake Complex wildfires.

Since then, the area had been on Evacuation Alert.

The Slocan Lake Complex includes the Aylwin Creek wildfire, Komonko Creek wildfire (4,006.4 Hectares Discovered on July 19, 2024), Mulvey Creek wildfire (2,037.3 Hectares, Discovered on July 18, 2024), Nemo Creek wildfire (5,790.6 Hectares, Discovered on July 18, 2024) and Ponderosa wildfire (1,548.7 Hectares, Discovered on July 18, 2024).

A complex is created when multiple wildfires are managed by a single Incident Management Team, and resources and equipment are shared between all incidents in the complex.
