The Nelson Figure Skating Club sent a strong contingent of competitors to the recent BC Winter Games in Vernon.

The Kootenay Zone sent a total of four skaters, which three were from Nelson — Kailee Stewart (12), Taylor Singer (16) and Aili Brackett (13).

Singer had a strong showing in the short program, finishing tenth overall and was the only competitor to land a double axel move.

Singer also competed in the long program, landing three double-double combinations as well as another double axel to place 12th overall.

Meanwhile, Stewart and Brackett competed in the juvenile category, skating perfectly in the practices leading up to the Games, but falling a bit short in their performances.

Stewart and Brackett finished 15th and 16th, respectively.

Nelson Figure Skating Club head coach Jordyn Eberts accompanied the skaters to Vernon.
