Nelson's Mike Parenteau settles back into Kootenay Life
Nelson-born cinematographer Mike Parenteau is settling back into Kootenay Life after six years of living mostly in Los Angeles, California.
He recently arrived back in the Heritage City with his wife, Chelsea, and their two young children.
Parenteau, 31, is an accomplished award-winning director and producer.
“It definitely feels like a lot was packed into a decade,” says Parenteau.
His film career has involved work for automotive, lifestyle, and athletic brands such as Ford, Disney, Formula One, NBA, Samsung, and Mercedes-AMG.
He won Best Producer, Audience Award, Best Documentary, and Best Cinematography — just some of his accolades.
His film Ride of the Dead earned him Gold at the Telly Awards.
His career has been diverse, but his path to getting where he is today was not traditional.
He was very into sports and started skiing at a very young age, spending a lot of time on the soccer pitch playing for Nelson Selects teams.
Soon he was into mountain biking, eventually leading to the start of his career.
