Rotary Noon Club makes generous donation to Supporting Ukrainian Families to Nelson
The Supporting Ukrainian Families to Nelson committee are grateful to the Rotary Club of Nelson Noon Club for its generous donation of $1,000.
The money will help with the costs for the two Ukraine families that we are supporting in Nelson to be secure in Canada with the tools in English, medical costs, living, clothing, and transportation.
The small Supporting Ukrainian Families to Nelson committee are thankful for the community support to make the transition from Ukraine to Canada a less complicated experience for these two families.
In late-April, more than 130 people attended a Ukrainian perogies and beer night at Finley’s Bar & Grill that raised $8,500.
Kootenai Moon, Nelson I.O.D.E. and the Leafs Hockey Club have also joined in to donate to the fundraising cause.
Individual contributions
Individual donations can be written to the Highlands Baptist Church, see the below document that has the address information.
The reason for donations being written on behalf of Highlands Baptist Church in Edmonton, is that a member of the committee knows the pastor of the church.
The pastor originally called for assistance to help fundraise to bring Ukrainian Refugee families to Canada.
The Supporting Ukrainian Families to Nelson committee then committed to supporting two families in Nelson allowing the Edmonton Church is able to assist us with tax deductible status. The Supporting Ukrainian Families to Nelson committee then obtains the funds designated for the “Nelson Ukrainian Refugee’s” from the Edmonton church.
The Supporting Ukrainian Families to Nelson committee said the public often asks ‘why Edmonton’, or ‘will the money sent to Edmonton be returned to the Nelson families’.
The answer is “Yes”, all the money that is sent to the Edmonton church we will ensure is spent on the Nelson families.
Any remaining funds remaining raised will be used for other Ukrainians coming into the Nelson area once the needs of Supporting Ukrainian Families to Nelson committee current families are met.
