Grand Forks RCMP said an arrest has been made in connection with robbery last month of the CIBC in the Boundary City.

Grand Forks RCMP said in a media release Monday that 35-year-old Briaden Rosch of Creston was taken into custody without incident Saturday in the East Kootenay City by local officers.
RCMP said Rosch remains in custody, awaiting a court appearance later this date.

“It is a great relief to have this person in custody and off the streets,” says Grand Forks RCMP Detachment Commander Sergeant Darryl Peppler.

“My officers and the Creston officers worked extremely hard on this investigation and it’s great to get the results we did.”

On April 21, 2022, at 4:07 p.m., a man entered the CIBC located on the 7300 block of 2nd St. in Grand Forks, BC and made off with a large sum of cash.

RCMP said the suspect, wearing hoodie and with his face covered, approached a teller and threatened that he had a gun and demanded the money.

Police said the suspect was handed some cash and then fled from the scene, heading south on 2nd Street.

RCMP said in the days following, investigators from the Grand Forks worked tirelessly gathering evidence and speaking with witnesses.

Grand Forks Mounties worked with officers from the Creston RCMP Detachment and were able to quickly advance this investigation and identify a suspect.

On Saturday, April 30, 2022, Creston officers, engaged in their own investigation, located the suspect, and took him into custody without incident.

RCMP said Rosch is also facing additional charges with 8 different counts including:

  • one count of possession of weapon dangerous to the public peace
  • two counts of possession of stolen property under $5000
  • five counts of various firearm offences including carrying a concealed weapon, possession of a non-restricted firearm
  • possession of a non-restricted firearm while occupying a vehicle
