Environment Canada calls for significant snowfall on Highway 3 — Paulson Summit to Kootenay Pass

Environment Canada is advising the public of the potential for significant snowfall on Highway 3 — Paulson Summit to Kootenay Pass — and is issuing a Winter Storm Watch.
Environment Canada said Sunday that there is the potential of snowfall accumulation of up to 25 cm through Monday afternoon.
“An approaching Pacific system will bring heavy snow to higher elevation passes beginning (Sunday),” the Environment Canada website said.
“Snowfall amounts near 25 cm are expected before the heavy snow eases late Monday afternoon.
“As snowfall totals become more certain, a winter storm warning may be issued,” Environment Canada adds.
Drivers using Highway 3 should be aware of rapidly accumulating snow that could make travel difficult over some locations.
“Visibility may be suddenly reduced at times in heavy snow (and) poor weather conditions may contribute to transportation delays,” Environment Canada said.
“Weather in the mountains can change suddenly resulting in hazardous driving conditions.
