Nelson Police Foundation hosts Gala

The Nelson Police Foundation held a fundraiser Saturday at the Tenth Street Campus in support of First Responder Mental Health.

Proceeds from the evening, which raised more than $9500, is to be used for important community and policing initiatives supporting a healthy and productive relationship between the Nelson Police Department and the community it serves.

Specialized training and equipment, community education, crime prevention and youth projects that are not typically funded with the annual police budget are financed through the fundraising efforts of the Foundation.

The Foundation recognized the significant contributions of the Nelson and District Credit Union as well as Ron and Jennifer Taylor.

People attending heard from Const. Matt Caldwell, a receipient of Nelson Police Foundation for training as well as Nelson Police Chief Paul Burkart and Nelson Police Foundation chairperson Tanya Finley.
