Parking surrounding the Adventure Hotel was at a premium as people flocked to attend the Wildfire Risk Reduction Open House Tuesday at the local hotel banquet room in Nelson.

Coordinated by Nelson & Area Wildfire Risk Reduction partnership, comprised of BC Parks, the Regional District of Central Kootenay (RDCK) and City of Nelson Fire Chief Len MacCharles as part of Emergency Preparedness Week, people attending were welcomed with an avalanche of information from staff at BC Parks, Regional District of Central Kootenay and Fire Rescue to help reduce the impact of wildfire in the region.

“We do this by collaborating on projects, sharing information and resources, and keeping our communities informed,” said the media release.

“We also work closely with BC FireSmart, homeowners, agencies and land managers to help keep our communities safe.”
