Old Man Winter isn’t done just yet.

Environment Canada has issued a Snowfall Warning Monday for Highway 3, Paulson Summit to Kootenay Pass. The warning covers Boundary, West Kootenay and Kootenay Lake regions.

Environment Canada said the region could expect snowfall in the amounts of about 20 cm.

“An approaching frontal system will track across the southern interior tonight,” Environment Canada said. “Snow at times heavy will begin this evening and persist through Tuesday. Snowfall amounts up to 20 cm can be expected by Tuesday evening.”

Environment Canada said drivers should prepare for quickly changing and deteriorating travel conditions as visibility may be suddenly reduced at times in heavy snow.

“Weather in the mountains can change suddenly resulting in hazardous driving conditions.”

Shift Into Winter reminds drivers to know before you go. Adjust to winter driving behaviour and use winter tires and chains.

Road conditions are available at DriveBC.
