Learning how to adjust to ever-changing markets, the importance of shopping and hiring local and taking pride in workmanship were just a few of the many topics up for discussion during the Kootenay Construction/Development Entrepreneur Event Thursday evening at the Social Room Interiors on Vernon Street in Nelson.

More than 50 people attended the event that saw a handful of local businesses in the construction and design field discuss the challenges in the ever-changing Nelson housing market.

Rob Stacey of Cover Architectural Collaborative Inc.; Matthew Fuhr of Fuhrious Construction Ltd.; Alisson MacLeod of MacLeod Nine Consultants Ltd; Dan Thompson of Rokform Solutions; Alan Gauckman of Purcell Timber Frame Homes and Rick Short of Red Dog Carpentry were part of the Entrepreneur panel tasked with leading the discussion.

The event was chaired by Jennifer Harper of Social Room Interiors, who covered a few of the many topics before questions were entertained from the audience.

Co-sponsored with Maglio Building Centre Ltd., Startup Nelson and The Nelson Daily online media service, the Kootenay Construction/Development Entrepreneur Meetup is part of a series of events hosted by The Nelson Daily to showcase Entrepreneurs in the Heritage City.

The event, with refreshments and food provided by Kootenay Tamil Kitchen in Nelson, was streamed live via Facebook.
