The serving of balls by local dignitaries was deemed the best way to officially open the new Nelson Tennis Club facility above L.V. Rogers High School Saturday afternoon.

Emcee Angus Glass conducted the ceremony that included representatives from Kootenay Lake School Board, City of Nelson as well as members of the Nelson Tennis Club — Rob Wright and Keith Bridger — and Pickel Ball League.

The project cost $350,000 of which $280,000 was money spent on materials and construction equipment.
