Environment Canada has removed Boundary, West Kootenay regions from the Special Weather Statement issued Thursday.

The cold front that is expected to sweep across the southern interior Friday evening will bring wins to the Okanagan and Nicola regions of the province.

“Ahead of the front, southwest winds will gust to near 50 km/h this afternoon in the Okanagan and Nicola regions,” Environment Canada said. “Stronger northwesterly winds with gusts up to 70 km/h are anticipated once the front passes this evening.”

Environment Canada said warns recreational boaters to re-visit boating plans on lakes and rivers for Friday afternoon and evening as strong and gusty winds are expected to whip up waters.

“Consider anchorages or moorings protected from westerly and northerly winds,” Environment Canada said.

The temperature is expected to soar to 35 C in Boundary and West Kootenay Friday, remaining in the mid 30’s C for the upcoming week.
