Environmentally friendly fundraising benefits KLH patients
The dedicated efforts of local volunteers Pat Alexander and Eleanor McPherson are benefiting patients at the Kootenay Lake Hospital Chemotherapy and Infusion Outpatient Clinic and the environment.
Alexander and McPherson recycle used greetings cards into beautiful new cards and sell them in the gift store at KLH and at Kootenai Moon Furniture in Nelson, and also through friends and acquaintances.
The volunteers have requested money raised through the card sales be used to improve the environment of people with cancer or chronic illness undergoing treatment in our clinic.
“Words cannot express how much KLH staff and our clients appreciate the beautiful and functional items Pat and Eleanor have donated in the past and the artwork we have just received,” said Susan Koury, acute outpatient nursing manager, KLH.
With this in mind KLH has purchased four beautiful pieces of art by the local artist Evelyn Kirkaldy. Her artwork can be viewed at this link.
To date, Eleanor and Pat have raised over $7,000 and their efforts continue. KLH has used these funds to purchase furniture for the patient consultation rooms, artwork, comfortable chairs, and a brand new vital signs monitor.
