Come watch art come to life — ArtWalk 2018

Nelson and District Arts Council is celebrating the 30th anniversary for ArtWalk and once again this year will feature a second art showcase opening during MarketFest on Friday, July 27th.

As part of this night’s event, the NDAC has partnered with the West Kootenay EcoSociety to host the Stanley Street Art Stage.

Brian Kalbfleisch is coordinating the artists and performers on the Stanley Street Art Stage. Come watch art come to life with live painting by Kelly Shpeley (muralist from the Nelson International Mural Festival), Buck D Addams, Rielle Oswald (ArtWalk 2018 artist at Stitch Lab), Amber Santos (Nelson International Mural Festival Coordinator), and many more including live performances by Soul Fire Dance, Corrine Bundshuh, and DJ Dubconscious joins the action from 8pm-10pm. Touchstones Museum of Art and History will also be in attendance with interactive painting along with Nelson and District Arts Council.

For this second opening night, each of the 19 ArtWalk venues around town will change the art up on their walls to create a fresh new ArtWalk experience.22+ artists are currently showcased until July 26th when they will be replaced by a whole new set of artists. Check the ArtWalk brochures around town for the current list of artists and the upcoming artists too. Touchstones Museum of Art and History will continue to be acting as an ArtWalk showcase by hosting one piece from each artist showing in this second round.
