Touchstones Nelson: Museum of Art and History is embarking on an artistic journey with our gala fundraising party, Touchstones Gala: Stepping out of the Past, on June 2nd

The evening will be sure to amaze guests with artistic and historical entertainment including live painting by Kelly Shpeley, live jewellery making with Lily Andersen and live body paintings with Yvonne Boyd. Back again for our 2nd Annual Gala will be tintype photography by Rainika Photographik, so that all guests may have the chance to take home a historic keepsake; as well as enticing tours of the Civil Defence Unit, the “Nelson Bunker.”

The Gala MC will be local star and stellar community-member Jenna Skidmore who will lead guests through the evening’s events, auctions, raffles and more with great enthusiasm.

Silent and live auctions items from the Museum’s archives and from local businesses will be sure to entice all who enter our beautiful gallery space.

Live auction items include an incredible artwork donated by local professional artist Deb Thompson, and a commissioned piece by Lainey Benson. Silent auction items include: a night’s stay at Ainsworth Hot Springs; local jewelry; local textiles; large-scale archival photographs; wine packages; a package from Nelson Brewing Company; a tasting at Kootenay Country Craft Distillery, and much more.

Tickets are $50 per person–purchase tickets in person or by phone: 250-352-9813.

The Gala is set to raise money for ongoing school and public programs, and projects such as the Bunker and Collections move.
