Second Lieutenant Brittnee Wallin receives promotion

Second Lieutenant Brittnee Wallin was recently promoted to the rank of Lieutenant said Major Kevin DeBiasio in a media release.

DeBiasio, Commanding Officer of 561 Squadron, said Lieutenant Wallin is a reserve officer of the Canadian Armed Forces and is assigned to work with 561 Squadron Royal Canadian Air Cadet in Nelson.

Lieutenant Wallin received her promotion while the squadron was flying in cadet owned glider and Cessna 182 aircraft at the Trail Airport.

The squadron’s formal training year comes to an end on 30 May when the Squadron will hold its Annual Ceremonial Review. Over the summer, several of the cadets will attend Summer Training at locations across Canada. The cadet program will start up again on September 5, 2018.

Nelson Air Cadets meet at 6:15 pm every Wednesday in the Nelson Eagles Hall at 641 Baker Street. The squadron currently has cadets from Nelson, Balfour, South Slocan and Nakusp.

The squadron always welcomes new cadets who are between the ages of 12 and 18. Adults who would like to volunteer with squadron are also welcome.
