NYS grad Andrea Stinson joins TSS Rovers of WPSL

While many of her peers have shifted from competitive to recreation competition, Nelson Youth Soccer grad Andrea Stinson continues to participate at the highest level after joining the TSS Rovers of the Women’s Premier Soccer League.

The WPSL is an independent national league whose main focus is on the development of highly competitive premier women’s soccer teams.

Stinson, a member of the Soccer Quest Academy during her youth soccer yeaers, recently graduated from playing Canadian University level with University of BC Okanagan Heat.

During her senior year in Kelowna, Stinson scored her first career goal, started 12 of 14 games and was named finalist for the UBC Okanagan Female Graduating Player of the Year.

Stinson, the daughter of Joanne (Victoria) and Ron (Nelson), started her career playing in Nelson Youth Soccer.

The speedy midfielder played in the Rep Program until landing a spot at the University of Calgary playing for the Dinos in 2012.

Stinson played three seasons in Calgary before transferring in 2014 to finish out her university career with the Heat.

Those two seasons Stinson played with Nelson Youth Soccer teammate, Brittany Wheeler.

Wheeler also complete here soccer eligibility with UBCO in the fall of 2017.

Prior to university soccer, Stinson refined her skills with Soccer Quest, an academy that operated in Nelson for approximately 10 years.

Stinson is one of 10 players from the same Soccer Quest Academy team to gain a soccer scholarship at the university level.

Soccer Quest will be back in Nelson hosting a few summer camps at the Lakeside Pitch.

Camps dates are July 9-13 and August 27-31.

There are also camps in Grand Forks July 23-27 and Kaslo August 13-17.

The expansion-Rovers open play in the WPSL against the THUSC Diamonds at home Saturday, May 26.

Other teams in the Northwest Division include Seattle Sounders, ISC Gunners FC, PacNw-OSA FC, Westside Timbers, Eugene Timbers FC Azul and the THUSC Diamonds.

The WPSL consists four regions — Central, East, West and South — across the United States and Canada.
