Mother Nature filled the 17th Annual Nelson Garden Festival with sunshine as gardeners geared up for the upcoming growing season, packing the 600 block of Baker Street and the 500 block of Hall Street for most of Saturday.

Organized by the West Kootenay EcoSociety, Nelson Garden Festival is a chance for the community to purchase perennials, annuals, vegetable starts, trees and flowers – just about everything a gardener needs to get started or add to an already great gardening endeavor — from local vendors.

Fred Mansveld was also present with a giant truck full of beautiful local chicken manure.

The Nelson Garden Festival was a great chance to pick up a nice gift for mom on the eve of Mother’s Day.

The Nelson Garden Festival was the first event of the outdoor season for the the West Kootenay EcoSociety as the organization now focuses on the upcoming Cottonwood Community Market, Nelson Downtown Local Market and the ever-popular Friday-night MarketFest.
