Enter 'What’s In my Back Yard' Invasive Species photo contest
Throughout Invasive Species Action Month, Central Kootenay Invasive Species Society (CKISS) is challenging the public to participate in the “What’s In my Back Yard” photo contest.
The winner could win $350 for their group or class by photographing as many invasive species in the area and posting on social media using #BCinvasivecontest or entering online.
The BC Government has officially declared May as Invasive Species Action Month. Invasive species threaten BC’s environment, economy and society, including human health. However, stopping invasive species is possible if the public takes action to prevent, detect and manage invasive species.
Post photos of invasive species you spot in your local area throughout the month of May to win a cash prize for your youth group or school class.
To enter:
- Decide on your group or class name.
- Take photos of invasive species you spot throughout the month of May,
- Post your photos on social media with #BCinvasivesContest OR
- Instead of posting on social media, enter online using the contest form
- Don’t forget to include your group name.
Only photos taken during May 2018 of invasive species will count!
The winners of the cash prizes will be the top two groups who post the MOST photos of invasive species taken in May 2018.
