Nelson Bantam Leafs center Joe Davidson has been selected to participate in the BC Cup following a successful showing at the recent U16 High Performance Camp a BC Hockey release said.

Davidson, a key cog on the Bantam Leafs Silver Medal showing at the BC Hockey Bantam Tier III Championships hosted in Nelson, is one of four players from the Kootenay selected to the BC Cup, set for April 19-22 in Salmon Arm.

A roster of 160 players have been chosen to eight teams for the Jamboree style tournament where evaluators will select players to attend the Provincial Camp, July 29 to August 3 in Shawnigan Lake.

The Male Program of Excellence (POE) was restructured for the 2016-2017 season to better align with the key characteristics of the new program.

With the focus on player development, BC Hockey will now have a better opportunity to work with and alongside the athletes.

The top players from the Provincial Camp will be selected to a U16 Christmas Camp in December prior to representing Team BC at the 2019 Canada Winter Games in Red Deer, AB.

Harmon Laser-Hume of Rossland, Gavin Damstrom of Cranbrook and Austin McKenzie of Fruitvale join Davidson at the BC Cup.

The 6’1”, 180-pound Davidson has been slotted in to play on Team BC White.

Davidson recently was recognized at the Nelson Minor Hockey Awards Banquet as Bantam winner of the Jackson Hole Three “A” award for “Athletics, Academics and Achievement”.
