The human brain makes 20 million billion calculations per second. That doesn’t mean it’s always right. Toronto-based performer Brendan McLeod brings BRAIN, his hilarious, heartbreaking monologue about consciousness, mental illness, and friendship to the Capitol stage on Friday, March 16th at 7:30 p.m.

Brendan McLeod is an award-winning novelist and former Canadian poetry SLAM champ.

BRAIN maps his first hand experience with OCD – from a teenager struggling to understand his obsessions to an adult battling psychosis. His upbeat, intense comedy takes you on a nuancedjourney through the nature of thought and the miracle of the mind.

The second half of the show – OTHER STORIES – is the perfect pairing with BRAIN. Brendanpresents stories, songs and poems with an emphasis on hilarity, bringing the audience into his unique and entertaining take on the world.

This performance is suitable for 19+.

“McLeod offers all of this with generosity and phenomenal grace. The guy is so smart, his rapid-fire delivery so clean and confident, his wit so casual, copious, and reassuring that hemakes the journey feel safe for the audience. He gives himself; he feels less alone and we feelless alone. That’s what theatre is all about.” – The Georgia Straight

“Taking a frank, often funny look at mental illness, McLeod busts some big taboos. He alsooffers a larger philosophical and scientific inquiry into the mystery and miracle ofconsciousness.” – Winnipeg Free Press

Tickets can be purchased in-person or by phone at the Capitol Theatre Box Office Tuesday- Friday, noon-4:30 pm – (250)352-6363 – or online at capitoltheatre.bc.ca . Tickets prices for BRAIN & OTHER STORIES are $20 Adult / $16 Student.
