Mallard's Team of the Week — Mount Sentinel Wildcats

The Mount Sentinel Wildcats finished the Kootenay High School A Girl’s Basketball season in fourth spot after a narrow 62-60 loss to Fernie Falcons at the recent Zone Championships in Nakusp.

Rosie Velisek played her best game of the year to lead the Wildcats in scoring with 24 points including two three-pointers along with several offensive and defensive rebounds.

The Fernie loss came after the top-ranked Wildcats lost 62-39 to Selkirk Storm of Kimberley.

Senior Hannah Dube the top scorer for Mount Sentinel with nine points.

Mallard’s Source for sports would like to salute the Wildcats on an impressive season with Team of the Week honours.

The team includes, Leanne Kabatoff, Taylen Hryniw, Eeana Cotton, Rosie Velisek, Hannah Dube, Caitlin Johnson, Els Hryniw, Victoria Peebles, Simone Chernoff and coaches Kris Hryniw and Tekki Brown-Hryniw.

Nakusp defeated Selkirk of Kimberley 65-56 to capture the Kootenay A Girls Zone title.
