Mallard's Team of the Week — Kootenay Martial Arts 1st Dans

Celebrating 15 years, the Kootenay Martial Arts promoted a number of students to 1st Dan during a recent ceremony at the facility in Nelson.

This class will surpass 100 the number of students promoted to 1st Dan since Master Dean Siminoff first created this school.

Kootenay Martial Arts, with students from Nelson, Castlegar and Playmor Junction in South Slocan, is a member school of the USCDKA represented by Sr. Grandmaster BJ Sell, the highest ranking female in the world of TKD. Master Dean Siminoff , a certified Chief Master Instructor and owner of KMA is a 6th Dan World Taekwondo Federation black belt registered with the Kukkiwon in Korea.

There are only 130 registered 6th Dan in all of Canada.

Mallards Source for sports would like to salute the new 1st Dans with Team of the Week honours.

The contingent includes, Stacy Devries, Robin Robertson, Nathan Croston, Sasha Semenick, Aaron Postnikoff, Leslie Vissers, Isaac Vissers, Marilou Smith and Bryce Sheloff.

Kootenay Martial Arts is also a founding school of part of the global justice movement.
