International superstar the Weeknd was the big winner at the 45th annual Juno awards Sunday at the Scotiabank Saddledome in Calgary.

However, the night was also a big for Shawn Hlookoff, of Crescent Valley, AKA, Shawn Hook.

The Mount Sentinel High School grad was part of the impressive lineup of performers at Canada’s Music Awards night.

He was also nominated 2016 Fan Choice Award at the awards ceremony honouring Canadian music achievements.

But performing with Jann Arden as part of the Burton Cummings tribute at the end of the show may have been the best for Hook.

“It’s something I’ve always dreamed about,” Hook said prior to Sunday in a recent CTV E-Talk interview.

“Eight years ago I had my first experience at the Junos, showcasing at a small event. I remember going to the awards show, thinking one day . . . I can’t wait maybe one day I can perform.”

“So for me I know it’s going to be really emotional,” he added.
