Whitewater Ski Team is gearing up to host the Nancy Greene Festival for zone finals Sunday (March 13th) at Whitewater Ski Resort.

There will be five different event stations including downhill, long jump, dual slalom, a speed trap, and a mogul competition.

The event comes after Whitewater played host to its annual zone race held recently at the local resort.

An amazing 186 skiers and their families descended upon the resort, carving ruts in Upper Concentrator and keeping the fleet of volunteers busy.

The course was in great condition, and the racers went home with ribbons, candy, and swag donated by generous local businesses and thrown into the madding crowd.

Whitewater Ski Team invites the public to come to the hill to watch future skiing stars in action.

Seven Whitewater skiers shine at BC Winter Games

The 2016 BC Winter Games have come to a close, having brought 1700 athletes, 1800 volunteers, and a $1.8 million dollar economic boost to Penticton.

Even more importantly, the Games — now in its 38thyear — renewed the spirit of competition and provincial pride in a region formerly referred to as “The Best Place On Earth.”

Whitewater sent an incredible seven athletes to the games, all of whom posted impressive results against some of the best skiers in the province.

Sophie Hickson(SL), Aliza Jones(GS), and Zarah Murray(SL) placed 18th, 20th, and 39th respectively, while Liam Lazier and Troy Bellman came in 23rd and 20th in GS.

Assaulting the top fifteen were Henry Leishman, finishing 13th in Slalom, and Yael Ooshuizen capturing ninth in the same event.
