Businesses and shopper of the 400 and 500 Blocks of Hall Street will be happy to know the streets are starting to take shape after work crews completed of the water main works.

The result allows crews to bring the 500 Block of Hall to final grade and working to complete the concrete works and social steps at Herridge Lane.

The 500 block should be ready for curb and gutters by the end of the week.

The past week marked the completion of the water main works in the 400 and 500 blocks of Hall Street.

City staff said the New China Restaurant, Adventure Hotel, Lordco, Pharmasave, Sidewinders and Gericks tie ins have all been completed, and service disruptions are now over for those businesses.

Other retailers in the 200 and 300 blocks of Hall Street will be affected by water service disruption in the coming weeks though — Maglio Installations will contact those affected directly.

As for the 400 block, the priority is to finish the underground works, including installation of the light bases, underground electrical, and drainage structures, and crews will start to bring the surface to rough grade.

City staff are cautioning the public that it could get a little bumpy and somewhat loud for a few days, as the big roller will be used to ensure sufficient compaction.

Thursday, the first permanent Stores to Shores traffic re-configuration was put in place at the intersection of Cedar and Vernon Streets.

Cedar street is now one-way heading up the hill from Front Street onto Vernon Street.

Drivers looking to access Front Street from downtown can follow Hall Street or Ward Street.

The one-way will soon be followed by a new turning lane on Front and Cedar.
