Tuesday is St. Patrick’s Day so where your GREEN!

For folks in Canada, it’s a time to hoist a few cool ones while wearing as much green as possible.

Saint Patrick’s Day was made an official feast day in the early seventeenth century, and has gradually become a celebration of Irish Culture in general.

The day is generally characterized by the attendance of church services, wearing of green attire and the lifting of Lenten restrictions on eating and drinking alcohol, which is often proscribed during the rest of the season.

In Nelson and area there will be plenty a tossing of a pint of Guinness at many of the local drinking establishments, including the folk at the Uptown Tavern in the Adventure Hotel.

Saint Patrick’s Day is a public holiday in the Ireland and Northern Ireland as well as Newfoundland and Labrador.

Today, St. Patrick’s Day is probably the most widely celebrated saint’s day in the world.

So wear your green and have a great St. Patrick’s Day.
