Arrest made in hit-and-run of cyclist
An arrest has been made in relation to the fatal hit and run collision that claimed the life of 48-year-old cyclist Paul Bally on Monday (December 15).
Acting on a tip received from the public, Comox Valley RCMP officers attended a property in the Comox Valley area Thursday (December 18).
A 2003 Ford F350 truck was located on the property and seized for further examination.
A 55-year-old Comox Valley man was arrested at 8 p.m. last night, and taken into police custody.
He is expected to appear in Courtenay Provincial Court today (December 18th, 2014), on charges related to failing to remain at the scene of an accident.
“On behalf of our investigative team, I would like to thank the public for their support and assistance with this investigation,” said Inspector Tim Walton, the officer in charge of the Comox Valley RCMP.
“Our team remains committed to completing a thorough investigation of all the circumstances surrounding this collision,bringing much needed answers to Paul’s grieving family.”
Comox Valley RCMP Victim Services and family liaison officers are actively supporting Paul’s family. News of this arrest was shared with them earlier today. Media are asked to respect the family’s privacy at this very difficult time.
