The Nelson Daily has learned Sunday that councilor Deb Kozak will join in the race for the top job in Nelson City council.

Kozak said Sunday she has decided to run for the seat as mayor on Nelson City Council.

Kozak is the third candidate to announce intentions for the mayoral seat in the upcoming election.

Thursday, former Nelson Police officer Pat Severyn joined incumbent John Dooley in the race for the mayor’s chair.

Candidates for the upcoming municipal election have until Friday, October 10 to submit nomination papers to Elections BC.

There are four new candidates running for council position as Anna Purcell, Michael Dailly, Charles Jeanes and John Paolozzi have all entered nomination papers.

Current councilors Robin Cherbo and Bob Adams have expressed interest intention in running again while Candace Batycki, Paula Kiss and Donna Macdonald have all decided not to enter the upcoming election.

The election is Saturday, November 15, 2014.
