RCMP confirm second degree murder charges in Lumby murder/suicide

RCMP confirm charges of second degree murder have now been laid against a man identified as Howard Everett of Lumby, B.C.
 
The charges relate to a murder that was discovered at a property on Trinity Valley Road near Lumby on the evening of Thursday, June 19th, 2014. 

Police can now confirm that the victim of this homicide is 51 year old Linda Marie Stewart a resident of Lumby who worked as a school teacher in Vernon.

Everett was scheduled to make his first court appearance in Kelowna Provincial Court Monday however he remains in hospital receiving treatment related to a self inflicted gun shot wound.
 
The Southeast District Major Crime Unit with assistance from North Okanagan Detachment General Investigation Section and the BC Coroners Service continue to investigate.
