Man with dementia struck by train

A man with dementia was struck by a northbound freight train in White Rock late Saturday night.

RCMP said the elderly man was conscious and breathing when emergency crews arrived.

The man was transported by air ambulance to hospital with undetermined head injuries.

An air ambulance helicopter was brought in to fly the man to hospital, where he remains Sunday with undetermined head injuries.

The care home where the man was a resident reported him missing an hour after the accident at 9 p.m. PT.
