Home invasion in Sicamous
The Kamloops Major Crime Unit and the Sicamous RCMP continue to investigate a home invasion that occurred in the Malakwa area, east of Sicamous.
Sicamous RCMP were called to a residence in the small community of Malakwa Wednesday (February 12) at approximately 5 p.m. after three males entered the residence armed with weapons and a struggle ensued between the male suspects and the male home owner.
During the altercation the home owner was shot in the shoulder. The males then fled the area before police arrived on scene.
The victim was transported to an area hospital and treated for the non life threatening injury.
Kamloops Major Crime members along with the Regional General Investigation Unit, continue to investigate this crime and are trying to determine the motive for this violent act.
Three children and an adult female were also inside the residence at the time of the incident and witnessed the event.
It is extremely fortunate that no one else was injured or killed in this violent home invasion, said Sicamous Detachment Commander, Sgt. Dave Dubnyk.
The family is cooperating with police and investigators are attempting to identify the three male suspects who were not known to the family.
