Properties within the newly created Arrow Creek Fire Protection Service in Electoral Area B of the RDCK will receive fire protection response effective January 1, 2014.

The Regional District of Central Kootenay Board adopted a bylaw establishing the fire protection service this fall.

“I am pleased that we were able to establish this service for the property owners in the Arrow Creek area,” said John Kettle, Area B Director and Chair of the RDCK.

“Special thanks to Muriel Buhr for her commitment to this process on her behalf of her neighbours. It has been a long time coming and will give the affected property owners some added comfort in knowing a fire or emergency in their area will now receive a response.”

In the event of a fire or emergency, response will be provided jointly by the Town of Creston, Wyndell/Lakeview and Canyon/Lister fire departments.

It was determined by the RDCK that a joint response model provided a high level of service while not putting a strain on any one fire department.

Each of the three departments is compensated equally for their provision of fire protection service to Arrow Creek.
