Ridge Meadows RCMP and Canada Post Securities and Investigations Unit are investigating a robbery of a postal worker.

At approximately 1 p.m. on Thursday (December 5)  the postal worker was delivering mail to a community mail box in the area of 116 Avenue and 239 Street when he was approached by two males.

The suspects demanded mail and mail keys, and during the theft one of the men struck the victim in the head with a hard object, injuring the postal worker. After the assault and theft, the suspects got into a grey car and drove off.

This brazen, mid-day attack is very concerning for police and our community,”said Corporal Alanna Dunlop.

“Police investigators are working hard to identify suspects, and bring them before the courts. Suspects did steal a quantity of mail in the robbery.

Police said the victim in this incident was taken to hospital, where he was treated for non-life threatening injuries and released. Investigators are asking for anyone who has any information to call police.
