Man shot in leg near Salmon Arm

Salmon Arm RCMP said a Tappen resident remains in custody following a shooting early Saturday morning.

RCMP was called to a residents in Tappen, west of Salmon Arm, at 1 a.m. Saturday (November 16).

Police arrived on scene to find that a 39 year old male had been shot in the lower leg by a 410 shotgun.

The resident of the home advised police that he had shot this male in self defense.

The man was allegedly being assaulted over an alcohol dispute. The two persons involved are known to each other and are self-described as friends.

The injured male is in stable condition, however, is not cooperating with police. The resident of the home remains in custody while police continue to investigate the events leading to the shooting.

RCMP continue to investigate the shooting.
