Local man killed in single vehicle accident in East Kootenay
A local man died following a single vehicle accident on Highway 95 at Cedared Creek north of Spillimacheen.
RCMP Members from Columbia Valley, Golden and Trans Canada East Traffic Services, B.C Ambulance and Invermere Fire Rescue were called October 14 5:23 p.m. to a single vehicle collision on Highway 95.
Investigation has determined that a north bound 1992 Acura for unknown reasons left the roadway then rolled over after impacting the bank of the creek.
The road conditions and visibility at the time of the collision were good. The lone male occupant was deceased at the scene
The BC Coroners service attended and is being assisted by the RCMP with the investigation into this unfortunate tragedy.
The investigation continues but it appears alcohol and the decision of the driver to not wear his seatbelt are factors that are being looked at into the cause of the untimely death of the 30-year-old male and area resident.
The name of the deceased driver will not be released by the RCMP.
If you witnessed this collision please contact Sgt Mike Pears of the Trans Canada Traffic Services unit in Golden at 250-344-4002.
