Jaws of Life needed in single vehicle accident at Highways 3A/6 junction

Nelson Fire Department was called out late Sunday night to respond to a single vehicle accident near the intersection of Highways 3A and 6.

Dispatchers received the call at 9:40 p.m. of a vehicle on its side.

Two NPD members responded immediately, with a third member arriving at the scene from home.

When firefighters arrived, one person was trapped inside the vehicle and the Jaws of Life was needed for removal.

Members removed the roof of the vehicle to allow EHS personnel access and treat the patient prior to transportion to Kootenay Lake Hospital.

Nelson RCMP continue to investigate the cause of the accident.
