Cranbrook standoff ends safely

A police standoff in Cranbrook ended without incident Wednesday evening.

The man, who barricaded himself inside a motel in Cranbrook, has been taken to hospital for evaluation.

The incident happened at the Nomad Motel next to Highway 3 Wednesday when a 48-year-old man seeking assistance and transportation to the hospital.

But once police arrived on scene, the man became non-compliant and locked himself inside a motel room.

At approximately 8:30 p.m. PDT, a police negotiator convinced the man to exit the motel room.

No charges are expected and no one was injured in the incident.
