Safe rescue thanks to RCM Police Dog Unit
Last week a RCMP dog came to the rescue in Armstrong.
On (Tuesday) September 10 at about 8:17 a.m., an Armstrong woman reported that her daughter had walked away from their home into woods nearby.
The mother had concerns for her daughter’s safety as she does suffer from some mental health issues.
The area that the daughter went out into was off the Otter Lake Road and Fraser Road area of Armstrong.
The attending officer was advised that the missing daughter had previously attempted to harm herself that is why the concern. T
he RCMP Police Service Dog Unit was called out and after a brief search was able to locate her hiding in bushes along the train tracks.
The young woman was returned back home and then transported to Vernon Jubilee Hospital where she received treatment.
The quick action of the team likely went a long way in getting this person treatment in the proper time period.
This is the second time in the past two weeks that this dog team has successfully tracked and rescued people in the Armstrong area.
