The turnout was so great, Victoria Street, outside the Capitol Theatre, needed to be blocked off.

Always a community that supports a resident in need, Nelsonites came out in the hundreds to raise money at the Raising the Curtain for Pat & Maia live show and auction Wednesday at the Capitol Theatre.

The evening was to raise money to help the rehabilitation of Pat Henman and daughter Maia Vezina, who were involved in a horrific car accident in early June.

The two are currently in Calgary rehabilitating from their injuries.

Performers took to the stage to entertain while hundreds of supporters filled the seats and pages with bids during the silent auction happening before and after the gala event.

Both Henman and Vezina have been progressing well, however the pair still require months of rehabilitatio.

Wednesday evening’s fundraiser will help ease the strain of the big financial burden on the family.
