UPDATE: Police identify homicide victim, continue investigation

Kamloops RCMP Serious Crime Unit investigators continue to work on the investigation into the death of a 32-year -old Michael Irving Young that occurred on the evening of (Thursday) June 27 on a walking path, under a bridge.

The Kamloops resident, also known as Michael Hauk, was found deceased.

Kamloops RCMP Serious Crime Unit investigators continue to seek information from the public, specifically anyone who was in the area at the north end of the Overlander Bridge between 7:05 p.m. and 7:35 p.m. on June 27.

 Investigators would also like to hear from anyone who may have spoken to Young/Hauk in the days leading up to his death.

At this point in the investigation police suspect this was an isolated incident between the parties involved and have no reason to believe there is a heightened risk to the community.

Police investigate homicide in Kamloops

Kamloops RCMP are in the very preliminary stages of a homicide investigation at a walking path area at the north end of the Overlander Bridge.

Kamloops RCMP were called to assist BC Ambulance services at approximately 7:45 p.m. Thursday (June 27) at the walking path area under the north end of the Overlander Bridge.

Investigators arrived at the scene of a deceased male and it is being treated as a homicide investigation.

Kamloops Serious Crime Unit, Police Dog Services, BC Coroners Service and Forensic Identification attended the scene and the investigation is continuing.  

Police are asking anyone who may have been in that area between the hours of 5 p.m. and 7:45 p.m. to contact Kamloops RCMP if you noticed anything unusual.
