Environment Canada said there were thunderstorms in the forecast.

However, the weather forecaster should have probably put in a call to the retailers at the Wednesday market.

The deluge of rain backed up city storm sewer drains making Baker Street look like Baker Lake Wednesday afternoon.

Environment Canada said an upper disturbance moving across the region will create favourable conditions for thunderstorms to develop today.

There is a risk for some storms to become severe with potential to produce large hail, heavy downpour and strong gusty winds this afternoon.

Right after the storm the sun started shining again as the West Kootenay prepares for another week of 30-plus degree weather.
