Local teenager drowns near Keremeos

BC Coroners Service and RCMP are dealing with another drownings after a 19-year-old Keremeos man was found dead Saturday in the Similkameen River.

The man was on a rafting trip on the river with friends when he fell off before being swept up by the strong currents, going under the surface near the bridge near Keremeos.

The body was recovered later by Keremeos Fire Dept and Search and Rescue swift water team.

BC Coroners Service and Keremeos RCMP investigating the drowning.

The man’s name is not being released.
