Two men have been charged with production of a controlled substance after Quesnel RCMP Drug Section executed a search warrant Friday (May 31) at a residence in the 2000 block of the Barkerville Highway.

During the search police found a 700 plant marihuana grow operation located inside the house and shop on this property.

Two men, 49 and 56 years old respectively, both residents of communities in the Lower Mainland, were arrested.

One male has been released on a Promise To Appear. The other male was held on an outstanding warrant from the lower mainland.

Charges will be recommended against both males for production of a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking, and theft of electricity.

The Quesnel RCMP has a dedicated drug enforcement unit that works specifically on the eradication of controlled substances within our detachment area,” said Cpl. Stu Murray of the Quesnel detachment.

Through various investigative techniques the unit identifies and investigates files related to the production and distribution of these illicit substances as well as related offences.
