Bodies of two Langley teens recoverd from Nicola Lake

The bodies of two Langley teenagers reported missing have now been recovered from Nicola Lake RCMP confirmed Monday.

The confirmation comes following an extensive two-week search.

The two were reported missing on April 21 when they failed to return to Langley as planned after a weekend trip to a family cabin on Nicola Lake.

The next day their canoe was found, half-submerged in the lake with their personal property located near the scene. 

The private Idaho company hired by the family began their search Monday morning on May 6 after having searched for a few hours the previous day.

The boys were located at a depth of 75 feet in Nicola bay near the area where their canoe had been located two weeks earlier.

The RCMP Underwater Recovery Dive Team were on scene to assist with the recovery including the BC Coroner’s service and local RCMP.

The boys were positively Identified and the investigation has been turned over to the BC Coroners service.
