UPDATED: Suspicious death in Hedley now deemed a homicide

RCMP in the Similkameen region of the province have deemed the 55-year-old man found dead in a Hedley residence was a victim of homicide.

Cst. Lesley Smith, North District Media Relations Officer, said the police were called to the scene by friends Wednesday (March 6) night at around 8 p.m.

When police arrived them found the man dead.

Monday, police identified the 55-year-old victim as Douglas Smith of Hedley.

Cst. Smith said police could not release any other details because the investigation is ongoing.

The small town of Hedley is located midway between Princeton and Keremeos along Highway 3.

RCMP investigate suspicious death in Hedley

The Southeast District Major Crime Unit and BC Coroners Service are currently on the scene of a suspicious death at a residence in Hedley which is located west of Princeton on Highway 3.

RCMP were called to the residence at approximately 8 p.m. on (Wednesday) March 6 ,where they located a deceased male.

This investigation is in the early stages as police are still gathering information to determine what happened said Cst. Lesley Smith, North District Media Relations Officer.
