Revelstoke man to appear in court for voyeurism
A Revelstoke man is now facing a charge of voyeurism, after being caught by community center staff allegedly trying to capture images of individuals using the change room facility.
During the afternoon of (Saturday) January 5 while conducting their rounds, an alert employee of the Revelstoke Community Center observed a male who appeared to be utilizing his cell phone to view under the change room doors.
The Revelstoke RCMP was immediately notified and the employee detained the male until police arrived.
The local resident was arrested by police, his cell phone seized and has since been released on conditions which include not returning to the Community Center.
In an effort to secure further evidence, investigators executed a search warrant on his residence on January 9 and seized home computers. These computers will be sent for forensic examination.
A 38-year-old Revelstoke resident will be making his first appearance in court on February 6th.
The City of Revelstoke is working with the Revelstoke RCMP in reviewing their security measures to ensure that the proper safety and comfort of all community center clients is maintained.
