Ridge Meadows RCMP have arrested a man and a woman after discovering a marijuana growing operation in a home in East Maple Ridge.

Police went to a home on Ferguson Avenue around 4 p.m. on Monday October 15 to find the illegal grow-op.

The couple was arrested at the scene along with the total of 9666 marijuana plants in varying stages of growth were seized.

Police also seized several firearms that were present.

This was quite a large, sophisticated marijuana growing operation,” Sergeant Dale Somerville said.

Police have advised the Ministry for Children and Families, as the couple have two young children who live in the home with them, and a marijuana grow op is a very unhealthy environment.

Both suspects, a 42-year-old male and his 35-year-old wife, have been released for court in February 2013.
